Phantom Lancer + Primal Beast

Why this works

Holding a single target down for a few seconds can be all Phantom Lancer needs. Primal Beast is great at this, using Onslaught and Pulverize to pin an enemy in place. This gives Phantom Lancer a free window to close the distance, apply Spirit Lance, and start building up a swarm of illusions. The longer the target is held still, the more illusions appear, and the harder it becomes for them to fight back or escape once the initial disable ends. It’s a simple but effective way to isolate and overwhelm one key hero before a teamfight properly breaks out.

This pairing helps create space and control the map's tempo. The constant threat of Primal Beast charging in makes it risky for enemies to farm alone, which secures safer areas for Phantom Lancer to get his core items. Once PL is ready to fight, the enemy team has a difficult choice: group up and risk Primal Beast's area-of-effect damage, or split up and risk getting picked off by the Pulverize combo. The synergy relies heavily on Primal landing good initiations, and a coordinated enemy team can often save his target. It’s a solid plan, but not a guaranteed win condition.
