Phantom Lancer + Windranger

Why this works

Trying to lock down a target for Phantom Lancer can be awkward with this duo. Windranger's Shackleshot needs a clean angle, and PL's own illusions can sometimes get in the way. However, she provides crucial single-target control and burst damage with Focus Fire, which is something Phantom Lancer's illusion army lacks. This allows their team to quickly eliminate a specific hero who might otherwise wipe out the illusions with area-of-effect spells. While their kits don't always overlap perfectly, they can cover for each other's key weaknesses if the situation is right.

The success of this pair often comes down to timing and target priority. Early on, they mostly focus on their own lanes and farm. In mid-game skirmishes, a well-placed Shackleshot gives Phantom Lancer the opening he needs to secure a kill and start to snowball. If the enemy team groups up early and pressures them, Windranger can struggle to find a good setup and PL might not have the items to fight. It really falls on the Windranger to create space and find pickoffs, giving her carry the room he needs to come online for the late game.
