Phoenix + Tusk

Why this works

Picking these two together often feels like you're trying to get a bit of everything instead of committing to one strong plan. Tusk can provide the lockdown Phoenix lacks; a well-placed Ice Shards or a Snowball stun can guarantee that Fire Spirits connect and help set up a clean Sun Ray. Their core ideas clash, though. Tusk wants to find a target and blow them up quickly with Walrus PUNCH, while Phoenix excels at sustained, area-of-effect damage in a long fight. They don't actively step on each other's toes, but their ultimates lack a powerful, direct interaction.

In practice, this means they can find success in smaller ganks where their abilities can chain together on one or two heroes. As the game transitions into full five-on-five teamfights, their effectiveness depends entirely on player coordination. Phoenix might be looking for a fight-changing Supernova, while Tusk is hunting a support on the flank. The enemy team’s goal is to split them up and exploit this lack of a central combo. If Tusk can't get in position to defend the egg, or if Phoenix is too far away to help capitalize on an initiation, their draft falls flat.
