Why this works

Controlling the map and slowing an opponent's momentum often feels easier with this pair. Both Phoenix and Winter Wyvern excel at dealing damage from a safe distance, making it risky for enemies to group up for towers or Roshan. Spells like Fire Spirits and Splinter Blast constantly chip away at enemy health before a real fight even begins. This sustained pressure can drain the other team's resources and force them into bad positions. An ally caught out can also be saved by Winter Wyvern's Cold Embrace, allowing Phoenix to safely heal them back up with Sun Ray.

The main teamfight threat comes from their ultimates. A well-placed Winter's Curse can force multiple enemies to clump together, creating an ideal setup for Phoenix's Supernova. Even though the primary target of the curse is safe from Phoenix's damage, their allies are trapped next to the egg and will be stunned when it hatches. This lockdown creates a huge opening for the rest of your team. The combo relies on long cooldowns and can be broken by good positioning or a timely silence, which keeps the advantage from being too decisive.
