Puck + Rubick

Why this works

Setting up a big teamfight with this pair feels promising. Puck can lock down multiple enemies with Dream Coil, giving Rubick a perfect window to land Telekinesis or a powerful stolen spell. The chaos Puck creates with Illusory Orb and Waning Rift can bait enemies into using their big abilities, which is exactly what Rubick wants to see. The issue is that both heroes are very fragile and contribute similar kinds of magical damage and control. They don't bring much tower pressure or physical threat, and neither can stand on the front line.

This duo's success often depends more on the enemy draft than your own. If Rubick has a game-changing ultimate to steal, the combination can look good. If the opposing spells are underwhelming, Rubick’s impact is limited and the team is left with two squishy spellcasters who struggle to end the game. Puck’s initiation is strong, but without a durable core to play behind, both heroes can get turned on and killed. They provide a lot of crowd control, but can lack the substance to make it stick.
