Pudge + Shadow Shaman

Why this works

Picking these two heroes together creates a clear game plan centered on single-target pickoffs. Pudge’s Meat Hook is the perfect setup, pulling an enemy out of position and into the follow-up crowd control from Shadow Shaman. A successful hook can lead directly into a Hex or Shackles, giving the pair an extended window to apply damage. Pudge can add Rot and Dismember to the chain, melting a single target before their teammates can react. This entire sequence, however, hinges on landing that initial skillshot, which prevents the combination from being consistently overwhelming.

The duo is strongest during the early and mid-game, roaming the map to create pressure and secure kills that can be converted into towers with Mass Serpent Ward. Their effectiveness begins to taper off as opponents get items that counter the lockdown, like a Linken's Sphere or a Force Staff for their allies. The strategy can also struggle against teams that group up early and force five-on-five fights. While the combo is excellent at deleting one hero, it leaves both Pudge and Shadow Shaman vulnerable and might not be enough to swing a full-blown teamfight.
