Pudge + Timbersaw

Why this works

Picking these two heroes together puts your team into a very narrow strategy. Both Pudge and Timbersaw are tanky cores who deal almost entirely magic damage, which lets the enemy team counter both of you with the same items. Their individual goals also conflict. Pudge wants to stand back and pull one enemy out of position with a Meat Hook, creating an uneven fight. Timbersaw, on the other hand, wants to dive deep into the enemy formation, causing chaos and drawing attention while he deals sustained area damage. They operate in different spaces and don't directly help each other accomplish their objectives.

This duo often feels strong early, but their combined impact falls off hard. As the game goes on, your team will seriously lack physical damage for taking down towers or killing tanky heroes who have built magic resistance. Your entire game plan revolves around landing a perfect Hook to start every fight, which is predictable and easy to play around. The enemy team can simply buy a Pipe of Insight or Glimmer Cape, stick together, and wait for you to miss a hook. Once that happens, they can usually just walk at your team and win the fight.
