Pudge + Io

Why this works

Pairing Pudge and Io is a bet on a very specific playstyle. The idea is for Io's Tether to solve Pudge's positioning issues, helping him land hooks or keep targets slowed by Rot. Overcharge adds a layer of survivability for the frontline Pudge, and the shared regeneration helps offset the constant self-damage from Rot. While this keeps him alive longer, Pudge doesn't benefit from the attack speed of Overcharge as much as a true carry would, meaning a core part of Io's kit offers less value here than it could with other partners.

The whole game plan often revolves around the Relocate gank. A successful teleport can lead to an easy pickoff with Dismember, sometimes even pulling an enemy all the way back to the fountain. This play is high-risk, though. A mistimed or scouted Relocate leaves both heroes exposed and out of position. The duo's success hinges on clean execution and catching the enemy off guard, creating a swingy dynamic that can either secure a lead or throw the game away completely.
