Queen of Pain + Winter Wyvern

Why this works

Setting up a big Sonic Wave on a target locked down by Winter's Curse seems like a good idea, but it's a trap. The main target of the curse is immune to damage from Queen of Pain and her allies, making her entire burst combo useless if she aims at them. This forces a difficult choice: QoP can either hold all her spells and risk the target escaping after the disable, or she can use her area-of-effect damage on the secondary enemies attacking the cursed target. This is rarely the ideal outcome, as her goal is usually to delete a specific, high-priority hero.

This conflict of interest often leads to messy teamfights. A well-intentioned ultimate from Winter Wyvern can completely nullify Queen of Pain’s aggression. While Wyvern’s slows from Arctic Burn and Splinter Blast can help QoP chase people down in the early and mid-game, it’s a minor benefit compared to the potential for their core abilities to clash. The duo requires a lot of communication to avoid disabling the same hero QoP wants to burst. Without that careful coordination, they often end up working against each other when it matters most.
