Why this works

Picking this pair feels like a bet on a very specific, telegraphed play. The ideal scenario is straightforward: Clockwerk uses Hookshot to isolate an enemy, trapping them in Power Cogs. This provides a stationary target, a perfect bullseye for Sniper to unload on from a safe distance. With Shrapnel slowing and damaging inside the cogs, a caught hero can melt before the lockdown even ends. This combo is designed to secure a pickoff before a fight properly begins, turning a teamfight into a more favorable engagement by creating an early numbers advantage.

The challenge is that everyone sees this coming. For the combo to be effective, Sniper has to position aggressively enough to apply his damage immediately, exposing him to counter-attack. A simple Force Staff from an enemy support can save the trapped hero, leaving Clockwerk isolated deep in enemy territory. The whole play falls apart if the enemy team is prepared with basic saves or can quickly turn on either Sniper or the now-vulnerable Clockwerk. Because it’s so predictable and requires perfect positioning from both heroes, it often fails to create a consistent edge.
