Why this works

Setting up a kill on a lone hero becomes much easier with this pair. Rubick’s Telekinesis provides a reliable, instant disable that gives Riki a perfect window to position for backstabs. As the target is about to land, Riki can drop Smoke Screen right on top of them, ensuring they are silenced and missing their attacks the moment the stun wears off. This simple combination is often enough to secure a kill before the victim can use spells or items to escape. Riki's innate scouting ability also helps Rubick find the best spells to steal without putting himself in danger.

This duo encourages a gank-heavy playstyle, especially during the mid-game. Enemies are forced to play closer to their towers and invest more in detection, as a solo hero farming a lane is an easy target for a Rubick and a hidden Riki. In teamfights, the plan stays similar: Rubick can use his lift to isolate a key support or peel for Riki if he gets jumped. The opposing team must stay grouped and vigilant, because any hero caught wandering alone is likely to be a free kill for this pair's lockdown and burst damage.
