Rubick + Skywrath Mage

Why this works

Finding farm for two greedy supports often puts a lot of pressure on the cores. Both Rubick and Skywrath Mage need levels and early items to have an impact, but they lack the tools to create space for themselves or each other. They're both fragile and offer limited lockdown. While Telekinesis can set up a Mystic Flare, it's a short duration, and many other supports provide more reliable stuns to guarantee the damage. The lane itself ends up being vulnerable, with two heroes who want to cast spells but have no safe way to get the resources they need.

If this duo gets ahead with a few early kills, they can snowball off pure magic damage. More often, however, they struggle to establish map control against aggressive opponents. Without a durable support or reliable initiator in the pairing, the team is vulnerable to being run at. A behind Skywrath Mage doesn't contribute enough damage, and a poor Rubick lacks the survivability to get into position to steal the big teamfight spells that could turn things around. The whole game plan ends up depending on a dominant start.
