Shadow Demon + Sniper

Why this works

Using Disruption on an enemy to set up a kill backfires because it makes the target invulnerable, preventing Sniper from attacking for the spell's duration. That pause in damage is often enough for the target's cooldowns to reset or for their allies to counter-initiate. The two illusions that spawn afterwards don't compensate for interrupting Sniper's sustained fire on a key target. While Soul Catcher can amplify the damage from Assassinate or right-clicks, it rarely makes up for the core conflict between their main abilities.

This dynamic forces Shadow Demon to play passively, holding Disruption almost exclusively to save Sniper from jumpers. This is a reliable defensive tool, but it means the pair has almost no proactive way to start a fight. An enemy team can often ignore Sniper for a moment and focus on his allies, knowing that Shadow Demon can't effectively set up a kill on his own. The whole fight becomes reactive, waiting for the enemy to make a mistake rather than forcing one, which gives the other team control of the game's tempo.
