Timbersaw + Slark

Why this works

Putting both Timbersaw and Slark on the same core lineup creates a difficult strategic puzzle. Timbersaw wants to create sustained chaos in a teamfight, using trees to stay alive while whittling down multiple heroes with area-of-effect abilities. Slark, on the other hand, wants to isolate and burst down a single target quickly before disengaging. Timbersaw’s slows and area damage don't provide the hard lockdown Slark needs to secure a Pounce and a kill, and Slark’s single-target focus does little to help Timbersaw survive against a coordinated group.

This conflict of interest often forces the team to choose a game plan that only suits one of the heroes. Playing around Timbersaw means grouping for messy brawls where Slark can struggle to find a clean entry or an isolated support. Alternatively, playing for pick-offs to empower Slark leaves Timbersaw exposed and unable to apply his unique map pressure. Opponents can exploit this by either sticking together to nullify Slark or splitting the map to starve Timbersaw of the fights he thrives in.
