Why this works

Playing against this pair means constantly worrying about coordinated silence. A well-timed Global Silence from Silencer stops an entire team from casting spells, which is exactly the opening Witch Doctor needs. It gives him a clean opportunity to apply Maledict and then channel a full Death Ward without immediate spell-based interruption. Even a shorter silence from Last Word can be enough to secure a Maledict on a fleeing target, amplifying Witch Doctor’s follow-up damage.

This synergy is most felt in mid-game teamfights. The Silencer and Witch Doctor want to force engagements when Global Silence is available, creating a one-sided fight. The opposing team has to play around this by either spreading out to minimize the impact of Death Ward or by prioritizing items that can be used while silenced. A timely Black King Bar or Force Staff activation on a core hero can often be enough to survive the channel and turn the fight, which is why this combination provides a small edge rather than a decisive one.
