Skywrath Mage + Winter Wyvern

Why this works

Setting up for a big Mystic Flare combo often feels awkward with a Winter Wyvern on your team. The main target caught in Winter's Curse is immune to all damage from your side, which means Skywrath Mage cannot unload his spells on them. While you can try to place the Mystic Flare on the other enemies attacking the cursed target, they aren't stunned and can simply walk out of the area. The two ultimates have conflicting goals: one makes a target vulnerable by grouping enemies, but the other wants to obliterate a single stationary hero. This core anti-synergy overrides most of their other potential interactions.

In the laning phase, the two can sometimes find kills. Winter Wyvern's slows from Arctic Burn and Splinter Blast can help Skywrath connect his own abilities for early pressure. As the game goes on, however, this coordination tends to fall apart. Teamfights become a choice between using Winter's Curse for control or having Skywrath Mage try to burst a different hero down without a reliable setup. Because their signature spells don't work together, the draft often feels like it's missing a key piece to enable either hero to truly take over the map.
