Sven + Zeus

Why this works

Playing against this lineup can feel threatening at first. A global Thundergod's Wrath can soften up the whole enemy team, making it easier for Sven to find a target he can quickly burst down with God's Strength. Zeus can also provide some vision with Lightning Bolt, which can help set up a long-range Storm Hammer. The issue is that their synergy pretty much stops there. Zeus wants to play far back and slowly chip away at enemies, while Sven needs to be right in the middle of the fight. These different positioning needs mean they often operate independently after the initial engagement.

This duo's success hinges on whether they can secure those initial pickoffs. If Sven can get a clean initiation on a target damaged by Zeus, they can snowball a fight. However, common defensive items like a Glimmer Cape or a Force Staff can easily disrupt this plan. Sven can't do much to protect a fragile, immobile hero like Zeus if he gets jumped, and Zeus lacks the lockdown or slows that Sven needs to stick on mobile heroes. Ultimately, they don't cover each other's weaknesses very well, leading to a very inconsistent performance from fight to fight.
