Ursa + Witch Doctor

Why this works

Picking a support for Ursa often comes down to finding reliable setup, and that’s where some friction can appear. While a Paralyzing Cask can hold an enemy down, its bounces are unpredictable and may not lock down the specific hero Ursa needs to jump on. Maledict adds a lot of damage, but Ursa often bursts targets so quickly that he doesn't always need the extra amplification. The bigger issue is in teamfights, where Ursa wants to dive and chase while Witch Doctor needs to find a safe, stationary spot to channel Death Ward. Their ideal fight patterns don't always line up.

This pairing can look strong in the laning stage, where a good stun can easily lead to a kill. As the game goes on, however, coordinated enemies learn to exploit the gap between them. They will kite away from Ursa, forcing him to overextend, while a separate hero jumps on the vulnerable, channeling Witch Doctor. The duo relies on enemies grouping up and fighting into them, and when that doesn't happen, their combined effectiveness drops off. One hero is left chasing while the other is left exposed, making their impact less consistent than it seems on paper.
