Abaddon vs Alchemist

How this matchup plays

Deciding to pick Alchemist into an Abaddon often hinges on which hero you plan to target. Alchemist's main ganking tool, Unstable Concoction, is completely nullified if Abaddon can cast Aphotic Shield on the target in time. This forces the Alchemist to either try and bait out the shield or find a target isolated from Abaddon's protection. Similarly, Abaddon himself is a poor target for Alchemist's initial burst, since Borrowed Time will usually trigger and heal him back up. This core interaction creates a standoff where neither hero can easily execute their primary game plan against the other.

As the game progresses, this dynamic defines the teamfights. Alchemist wants to use his farm lead to blow up a key hero, while Abaddon's job is to prevent exactly that. Success often comes down to positioning and timing. If Abaddon is out of place or his shield is on cooldown, Alchemist can secure a quick kill. If Abaddon lands his save, the momentum shifts.
