Trying to initiate with Flaming Lasso feels like the right play, but against Abaddon it's usually a mistake. If Batrider grabs an ally, Abaddon can instantly cast Aphotic Shield on them, dispelling the Lasso and letting them walk free. This completely wastes Batrider's biggest cooldown. If the plan is to go on Abaddon himself, he'll activate Borrowed Time and the gank falls apart, often turning into a disastrous counter-initiation for his own team. Even the slows from Sticky Napalm can be purged away. Abaddon makes Batrider's primary job of isolating and killing a key hero incredibly difficult, forcing him into a fight where his best spell has no good target.
