Abaddon vs Earthshaker

How this matchup plays

Getting caught by an Earthshaker initiation often means you're dead, but Abaddon's kit offers a direct response to this threat. An Aphotic Shield cast on an ally can instantly remove the initial stun from a Fissure or another setup, potentially ruining the chain-stun combo. Even if Earthshaker lands a huge Echo Slam, Abaddon can often survive it with Borrowed Time and turn the fight by healing his team through the follow-up damage. This creates a fundamental tension where Earthshaker's goal of locking down and bursting a target is directly contested by Abaddon's goal of dispelling and sustaining.

The matchup becomes a game of positioning and reaction time. A successful Earthshaker will try to initiate from an angle where Abaddon cannot immediately react, or he might focus on stunning Abaddon himself to prevent a save. A well-played Abaddon will stay close to his vulnerable cores, ready to apply a shield at a moment's notice.
