Abaddon vs Hoodwink

How this matchup plays

Trying to land a full combo with Hoodwink is the whole game against Abaddon. She relies on the Bushwhack stun to guarantee her damage from Acorn Shot and a follow-up Sharpshooter. The entire plan falls apart if the target is freed early. This is exactly what Abaddon’s Aphotic Shield does: it provides a strong dispel that can instantly remove the Bushwhack stun, allowing his ally to walk away from the follow-up damage. This turns Hoodwink's primary kill threat into a simple test of Abaddon's reaction time and positioning.

In practice, this makes for a constant cat-and-mouse game. A good Hoodwink will try to bait out the shield or wait until Abaddon has used it on someone else before committing to a kill. A good Abaddon will shadow his priority targets, holding his shield for the moment Bushwhack is cast. Fights are often decided by who acts first and on whom. If Abaddon is caught out himself, his Borrowed Time makes him tough to kill, but he can't save his allies while he's focused on his own survival. The matchup often feels like it could go either way based on which player has better awareness.
