Abaddon vs Muerta

How this matchup plays

Trying to burst a target down during Pierce the Veil often feels ineffective against Abaddon. His ultimate, Borrowed Time, triggers automatically at low health regardless of the damage type, so Muerta's pure damage can't prevent him from surviving. On top of that, a well-timed Aphotic Shield can dispel the silence from The Calling off a key ally, completely breaking Muerta's setup and allowing her target to escape. This makes it difficult for her to secure solo kills or reliably initiate a fight.

The trade-off is that once Muerta is in her ultimate form, Abaddon has a very hard time dealing with her. He relies heavily on physical attacks, and she becomes ethereal and immune to them. This creates a window where Muerta can freely attack Abaddon’s team while he can only focus on repositioning or shielding allies. Fights often come down to baiting cooldowns. If Abaddon saves his spells for her ultimate, he can negate her impact. If Muerta forces out his shield early, she can get a clean kill.
