Abaddon vs Ogre Magi

How this matchup plays

Abaddon's kit seems tailor-made to frustrate Ogre Magi. Aphotic Shield provides a clean answer to Ignite, removing the slow and damage-over-time effect with a strong dispel. Even more importantly, Borrowed Time completely negates Ogre's primary threat: bursting a single hero with a lucky Fireblast Multicast. Trying to blow up a target near Abaddon often backfires, as your biggest damage spell can end up healing him instead of securing a kill.

This turns the mid-game into a test of positioning for both teams. Ogre Magi is forced to look for pickoffs on heroes who are isolated from Abaddon's protection, or to try and bait out the shield on a lesser target. Abaddon's job becomes shadowing his team's most important core, daring the Ogre to waste his cooldowns. Since both heroes are very good at their respective jobs here, the matchup often feels like a stalemate where neither can force a decisive advantage on their own terms.
