Abaddon vs Pudge

How this matchup plays

Landing a good Meat Hook doesn't guarantee a kill when Abaddon is nearby. A quick Aphotic Shield on the pulled target can purge the Rot slow and absorb enough damage for them to survive the follow-up Dismember. This interaction forces the Pudge player to be very selective with his targets and quick with his combo. Ganking Abaddon himself is also rarely effective, as his Borrowed Time ultimate will often trigger, turning the incoming damage into healing and wasting Pudge’s long cooldowns.

The matchup often becomes a game of positioning. Pudge wants to find kills on isolated heroes who have strayed from Abaddon's protection, building an early lead before teamfights break out. In response, Abaddon's team wants to play grouped, making it difficult for Pudge to find a valuable hook without hitting a shielded target. If Pudge can't secure those early pickoffs, his impact tends to fall off as Abaddon enables his team to move around the map more safely.
