Abaddon vs Ursa

How this matchup plays

Trying to isolate and burst a target is Ursa's entire game plan, but Abaddon makes this difficult. Aphotic Shield is the main problem; it can be cast on Ursa's target to instantly dispel his slows and absorb the first few hits of an Overpower combo. This often provides enough time for the target to escape or for help to arrive. If Ursa instead chooses to focus Abaddon, Borrowed Time completely negates the kill attempt. Ursa ends up wasting his cooldowns while Abaddon heals back to full, turning the gank completely on its head.

The advantage remains slight because the matchup is all about timing. A patient Ursa can win by baiting out the shield or waiting for Abaddon to use it on another teammate before committing to a kill. While Abaddon has the right tools, his spells have cooldowns, and a coordinated attack can still overwhelm his defenses. Ursa is forced to play a more calculated game, but he is far from shut down and can still find his openings, particularly when picking off heroes who have strayed from their team.
