Ancient Apparition vs Centaur Warrunner

How this matchup plays

Watching Centaur Warrunner try to front-line into a big teamfight is tough when Ancient Apparition is on the other team. Centaur’s game is built around his massive health pool and regeneration, but Ice Blast completely turns that off, preventing him from healing back up. All the health and strength he buys gets heavily mitigated, making him much more manageable for the enemy team to bring down. On the other hand, Centaur is one of the best heroes at closing distance and blowing up a fragile back-liner. A quick Blink Dagger into Hoof Stomp can be enough to kill Ancient Apparition before he can even cast his ultimate.

The matchup often comes down to positioning and initiation. Centaur Warrunner will spend the mid-game trying to get vision and find an angle to jump on Ancient Apparition, often using Stampede to guarantee his team can follow up. If he can remove AA from the fight early, his own team can play their normal game. Ancient Apparition's team, in turn, has to play around protecting him, providing vision, and setting him up to land a fight-winning ultimate. It becomes a game of cat and mouse, where whichever hero enables their team's strategy first tends to come out ahead.
