Ancient Apparition vs Faceless Void

Fighting into a Chronosphere often comes down to one thing: can you kill the Faceless Void inside it? Ancient Apparition provides a direct answer with Ice Blast. Landing the shatter debuff on Void means his Time Walk won't heal back any of the damage he takes, making him much more fragile than he normally is. However, this relies entirely on Ancient Apparition staying alive and positioned well away from the fight. If Faceless Void manages to catch AA with the Chronosphere, then his biggest counter is neutralized for the entire duration, letting him fight freely.

This creates a real cat-and-mouse game in teamfights. Ancient Apparition has to play from very far back, often waiting for the Chronosphere to be used before he commits his own ultimate. A well-placed Ice Blast can turn a successful Chrono into a death sentence for Void. On the other hand, a patient Faceless Void will hold his initiation, looking specifically for an opportunity to jump on and lock down the AA. The outcome of a fight, and often the game, can hinge entirely on which of these two heroes gets their spell off under the right conditions.
