Ancient Apparition vs Marci

How this matchup plays

Dealing with Marci's dive often comes down to surviving her initial burst. Ancient Apparition’s Ice Blast completely negates the lifesteal from Sidekick, which is her primary tool for staying alive while using Unleash. A Marci hit by the ultimate can't regenerate any health, making her surprisingly fragile once she commits to a target. She's built to get in the middle of the fight and trade hits, but when all incoming damage sticks, she gets blown up much faster than she expects. The global range of Ice Blast also means AA can turn her ganks around from across the map.

This forces Marci to adapt her entire game plan. She either needs to get a Black King Bar very early to block the ultimate, or she has to wait for it to be used on someone else before she can safely jump in. A good Ancient Apparition will often hold his ultimate specifically for her engage. The advantage is only slight because a well-timed smoke gank or a quick jump can still let Marci delete a support before Ice Blast even lands. It becomes a timing contest, but the fundamental matchup of healing prevention versus a lifesteal-based brawler leans in AA's favor.
