Seeing Muerta activate Pierce the Veil might look like a safe way to deal damage, but it's a trap in this matchup. Her ultimate makes her ethereal and turns her attacks into magic damage, but she often needs to lifesteal through return fire to survive. She's immune to physical attacks, not to spells. This is where Ancient Apparition comes in. His Ice Blast ultimate completely prevents all healing and regeneration. When Muerta transforms, expecting to sustain herself, an Ice Blast will leave her a fragile target that can’t heal through any magical burst she takes.

This interaction shapes every mid and late-game teamfight. The Muerta player lives in fear of that global spell.
