Ancient Apparition vs Necrophos

How this matchup plays

Landing a good Ice Blast on Necrophos prevents his entire kit from functioning as intended. His ability to sustain through a fight with Death Pulse healing and Heartstopper's regeneration is completely nullified. More importantly, the shatter debuff means that even if Necrophos secures a kill with Reaper's Scythe, he won't receive the massive burst of healing and regeneration that normally makes him so difficult to bring down after a successful ultimate. Ancient Apparition effectively turns Necrophos into a much more fragile target who can't rely on his usual attrition-based game plan.

This dynamic shapes the entire mid to late game. The Ancient Apparition's team will always look to initiate fights with Ice Blast aimed at Necrophos. In response, Necrophos is forced to play cautiously and invest in defensive items like a Ghost Scepter or Glimmer Cape to survive the debuff's duration. His other option is to try and have his team dive the back lines and eliminate the Ancient Apparition before he can cast his ultimate. The matchup becomes a positioning battle centered on who can execute their plan first, but the pressure is definitely on Necrophos to react.
