Ancient Apparition vs Puck

How this matchup plays

Fighting for map control often comes down to which hero sets the pace. Ancient Apparition's Ice Blast is a global threat that can punish Puck for taking damage, but it's hard to land on a hero who can Phase Shift to dodge the impact. Similarly, Puck can have a hard time breaking Cold Feet if Phase Shift is on cooldown, but usually has a way out. The matchup often hinges on these small cooldown timings and predictions. Puck needs to get the jump on AA, while AA needs to anticipate Puck's slippery movement to land his spells.

During teamfights, the whole dynamic becomes a cat-and-mouse game. Puck will actively hunt for Ancient Apparition, using Blink Dagger and Dream Coil to lock him down and burst him before he can contribute. In response, AA has to play from extreme range, relying on his team for vision and protection. A well-placed Ice Blast that catches Puck can neutralize his evasiveness by preventing any healing and setting up a kill, but Puck’s mobility with Illusory Orb and Phase Shift makes him a difficult target. Success for either hero depends heavily on positioning and catching the other one out of place.
