A teamfight often hinges on which of these two heroes uses their global ultimate first. Silencer can use Global Silence to interrupt the cast of Ice Blast, preventing Ancient Apparition from applying his signature healing prevention. Conversely, if Ice Blast lands before Silencer can react, his team can be overwhelmed by damage they can no longer heal. Earlier on, Silencer can punish Ancient Apparition for using his low-cooldown spells by applying Arcane Curse, which deals damage every time AA casts another spell. This creates a constant attrition war whenever they interact.

This dynamic leads to a game of anticipation. The Ancient Apparition player must find safe, hidden spots to launch Ice Blast from, hoping Silencer lacks the vision or reaction time to stop it. The Silencer player holds their ultimate as a defensive tool, waiting for the audio cue of Ice Blast starting up. A pre-emptive Last Word can also complicate things for AA, silencing him after he casts a spell like Cold Feet and preventing him from following up with Ice Vortex to secure the stun. It’s a matchup that rewards awareness more than anything.
