Ancient Apparition vs Techies

Picking one of these heroes into the other feels like a gamble, because they both possess a tool that directly undermines the other's game plan. Ancient Apparition's Ice Blast is a major problem for a Techies who relies on Blast Off! to engage or escape. The self-damage from that spell becomes permanent, making it a death sentence if he can't get back to the fountain. On the other hand, Techies’ mobility from that same Blast Off! gives him a reliable way to dodge the stun from Cold Feet, and his long-range Sticky Bombs can make laning miserable for a slow, fragile hero like Ancient Apparition.

The matchup often comes down to positioning and vision control. Techies will try to litter the map with Proximity Mines, locking down areas and making it dangerous for Ancient Apparition to move around and find good angles for his ultimate. A successful Techies can get kills on a misplaced AA long before a fight breaks out. But in a full teamfight, a single well-placed Ice Blast from Ancient Apparition can completely neutralize Techies, preventing him from regenerating health and making him an easy target. It's a constant back-and-forth of who gets the jump on whom.
