Ancient Apparition vs Tidehunter

How this matchup plays

Controlling the map often comes down to which hero's ultimate defines the big teamfight. Tidehunter provides a massive, reliable stun with Ravage that sets his team up for a clean fight. His personal tankiness from Kraken Shell also means he can shrug off a lot of what Ancient Apparition throws at him directly. On the other hand, Ancient Apparition’s Ice Blast can completely undermine that perfect setup. Even if Tidehunter catches three heroes, a good Ice Blast on them means they can't be healed or sustained through the focus fire, effectively turning Tide's initiation into a death sentence for his own allies.

This creates a tense back-and-forth centered on initiation. Tidehunter's goal is to get a Blink Dagger and find a Ravage that catches the Ancient Apparition himself, removing the Ice Blast threat entirely. Fights are often decided by whether Tide can successfully jump the back lines and lock down his target. In response, AA must play from extreme range, using wards and positioning to stay safe while still having the vision to land a fight-winning ultimate. The outcome really depends on which of these key ultimates lands more effectively when a fight breaks out.
