Ancient Apparition vs Tiny

How this matchup plays

Picking a tanky strength hero like Tiny into Ancient Apparition is always a tough decision. Tiny’s game plan often revolves around using his massive health pool to survive after his initial burst, frequently building items that grant regeneration to stay in the fight. Ancient Apparition's Ice Blast directly counters this entire strategy. By preventing all healing and setting a kill threshold, the ultimate turns Tiny's main defensive strength into a liability. Even AA's other spells contribute, with slows from Ice Vortex and Chilling Touch making it difficult for the melee hero to close gaps or retreat.

Throughout a match, this forces the Tiny to play on a timer. He can still try to initiate and delete a support, but if he takes return damage and gets tagged by Ice Blast, he's unlikely to survive. This pressures the Tiny player into buying a Black King Bar much earlier than he might want, delaying his other core items. For the Ancient Apparition player, the plan is straightforward: wait for Tiny to commit to a fight, then land a good ultimate to neutralize the enemy's frontline presence.
