Anti-Mage vs Keeper of the Light

How this matchup plays

Picking one of these heroes into the other isn't about securing an advantage; it's a bet on which game plan your team can execute. Anti-Mage sees an ideal target in Keeper of the Light, a fragile hero with a large mana pool that fuels Mana Void. A clean Blink-in is often a death sentence. Yet Keeper of the Light has a direct answer with Blinding Light, which shoves melee attackers away and makes their attacks miss. A well-timed cast can completely waste Anti-Mage's initiation and give KotL's team time to turn on him.

This tension defines the game. Keeper of the Light can use Illuminate to constantly push lanes from a safe distance, forcing Anti-Mage to show himself and slowing down his farm. Once Anti-Mage gets his key items, he wants to hunt, and KotL is high on the list. It all comes down to positioning and vision. An out-of-position KotL is food, but one who stays behind his allies can use his abilities to control teamfights, drain AM's mana with Mana Leak, and enable his own cores to win the fight.
