Anti-Mage vs Mirana

How this matchup plays

Farming a lane against Mirana feels risky because of how she controls space. A well-aimed Sacred Arrow can pin Anti-Mage down for a long time, opening him up to ganks and killing him before he can react. Even with Counterspell, blocking the stun requires good timing on a fast projectile that often comes from an unexpected angle. It doesn't reflect the arrow, either, so there's no punishment for Mirana's attempt. Starstorm adds reliable magic damage during the laning stage, making it difficult for Anti-Mage to trade effectively and stay healthy.

This pressure continues into the mid-game, where Mirana can use Moonlight Shadow to organize hunts across the map. Finding and killing Anti-Mage while he tries to split-push is the main way her team can secure a lead. The game for Anti-Mage becomes about survival; he needs to dodge these ganks, get his core items, and use Blink to stay safe. If he can weather the storm and start out-farming her team, her early advantage fades. Mirana’s edge is strongest before he gets his key defensive items.
