Anti-Mage vs Shadow Fiend

How this matchup plays

Facing down Shadowrazes in lane puts a lot of pressure on Anti-Mage. Shadow Fiend has all the tools to dominate the early last hits and build a soul advantage, creating a big item and level gap. However, once Anti-Mage gets points in Counterspell, the threat from that magic burst is significantly reduced. This turns the lane into a tense standoff; if Shadow Fiend can't build a decisive lead before AM gets a few levels, his window of opportunity to bully him starts to close.

As the game progresses, it becomes a classic battle of timings and map control. Shadow Fiend will look to group with his team and force fights with Requiem of Souls to capitalize on his mid-game strength. Anti-Mage wants to do the opposite, using Blink to split the map, accelerate his farm, and avoid teamfights until he has his core items. Fights often come down to execution: can AM find and isolate SF, or can SF's team lock AM down long enough for the ultimate to connect? The game often goes to whichever hero better dictates the pace.
