Anti-Mage vs Clockwerk

How this matchup plays

Catching a hero like Anti-Mage is Clockwerk's whole job, and he has the tools for it. Hookshot provides the long-range initiation, and Power Cogs can trap a target for a full duration of Battery Assault. In theory, this is a death sentence for Anti-Mage. In practice, AM's Blink is the perfect escape for exactly this situation. A quick reaction lets him escape the cogs before Clockwerk can do much damage. This makes the interaction a pure skill-check: Clockwerk's positioning and timing against the Anti-Mage player's reflexes.

This dynamic creates a game of cat and mouse. Early on, Clockwerk is the predator, hunting a vulnerable Anti-Mage to shut down his farm. A successful gank can be devastating, but a missed Hookshot gives AM a huge window to farm and accelerate. If Anti-Mage gets his core items, the tables turn. He can split-push aggressively, knowing he can blink away from Clockwerk's initiation. In late-game teamfights, Anti-Mage can often ignore Clockwerk entirely or even target him for a quick Mana Void, making Clock's life very difficult.
