Anti-Mage vs Techies

How this matchup plays

Picking Anti-Mage into an open Techies is a serious gamble. Anti-Mage wants to use Blink to farm aggressively and split the map, but Techies turns that mobility into a liability. Proximity Mines punish him for moving into any area without vision. While Counterspell can block a single spell, it does nothing against a well-placed stack of mines. Furthermore, the silence from Blast Off! can catch Anti-Mage out, preventing him from escaping or reflecting a follow-up spell, which is often a death sentence.

This dynamic forces Anti-Mage to play reactively all game. Instead of setting the pace, he has to spend gold on Sentries or wait for his team to clear paths for him, slowing down his core items. The very map control that helps an allied Anti-Mage farm safely becomes a minefield when Techies is on the other team. Techies just has to anticipate AM's farming patterns and deny those areas, choking him out. An Anti-Mage who can't safely farm is not much of a threat.
