Arc Warden vs Axe

How this matchup plays

An opposing Axe forces a total shift in how Arc Warden has to approach the game. Arc Warden relies on distance and his Tempest Double to deal damage safely, but Axe is built to close that gap instantly with a Blink Dagger. A successful Berserker's Call will frequently catch both the real hero and his clone, holding them in place for Axe's team to collapse. Common item choices like Blade Mail are also devastating, as Arc Warden’s high attack speed from the double will often melt itself against a defending Axe.

The result is a constant state of pressure. The Arc Warden player has to position from an extreme distance, using the Tempest Double to farm aggressively while the real hero stays far out of initiation range. If Axe finds the real Arc Warden, the fight is usually over before it begins. The whole game for Arc becomes about vision control and avoiding that one jump, because Axe is always looking for the opening to Culling Blade the most important target on the map.
