Arc Warden vs Lich

How this matchup plays

Trying to burst a hero protected by Frost Shield feels frustrating. The damage reduction and slow can ruin an Arc Warden's solo kill attempts with Flux and Spark Wraiths. In teamfights, Chain Frost is also a major threat, as it can bounce between the real Arc Warden, his Tempest Double, and any nearby allies. However, Lich himself has no way to deal with the constant split-push pressure from the Tempest Double. He can't clear creep waves safely and lacks the mobility to hunt down the real Arc Warden, which creates a strategic standoff where neither hero fully counters the other.

The game often comes down to tempo. Lich's team wants to force five-on-five engagements where his ultimate and defensive spells can turn the tide. Arc Warden prefers to avoid these brawls, instead using his Double to farm the map, siege towers, and contribute to skirmishes from a distance. If Arc Warden can successfully split the map and drag the game out, Lich's direct teamfight impact becomes less relevant. But if Lich enables his team to take objectives and control the map early, Arc Warden can find himself with no space to operate.
