Arc Warden vs Shadow Shaman

How this matchup plays

Trying to lock down an Arc Warden is often the key to beating him, and Shadow Shaman has the perfect tools for it. Hex and Shackles can instantly disable either the main hero or the Tempest Double, setting up a kill before Arc Warden can react. However, Arc Warden possesses a direct counter to Shadow Shaman's teamfight presence. A well-placed Magnetic Field causes all attacks from Mass Serpent Ward to miss, completely negating the ultimate's damage. This trade of abilities makes fights between them very dependent on who gets the jump.

The game often revolves around this tension. Shadow Shaman wants to group up, get a pickoff with his lockdown, and take objectives with his team. In response, Arc Warden prefers to split the map, forcing reactions with his Tempest Double while the real hero farms. If a fight breaks out, he plays from the back, using Magnetic Field to defend high ground and turn a push around.
