How this matchup plays

Stalling out Razor's mid-game push is about turning his main strength against him. Razor wants to use Static Link to drain damage from a target and run them down, but Axe's Berserker's Call completely flips this script. A good Call forces Razor to attack Axe, triggering lots of Counter Helix spins for pure damage. The bonus armor Axe gets during the taunt means he isn't too bothered by Razor's stolen damage, effectively wasting the Static Link duration. It’s a clean way to lock down and punish a hero who normally relies on kiting and being untouchable.

This matchup often starts with Razor having the upper hand in lane, using his range and damage drain to make farming difficult for Axe. Once Axe gets a Blink Dagger, however, the threat flips entirely. Axe's primary goal becomes initiating on Razor to start a fight, preventing him from getting his link off on a better target or melting buildings. In response, a good Razor player has to position very carefully and might need a Black King Bar or Force Staff to survive the jump. If Axe can't find his initiation, Razor can still control the fight.
