Axe vs Zeus

How this matchup plays

Trying to jump Zeus as Axe is the whole story here. A successful Blink Dagger into Berserker's Call almost always spells the end for Zeus, who has no innate escape and can't survive being held in place while the axe spins. This is Axe's primary win condition. The flip side is that getting to that point can be tough. Zeus can use his long-range magic to constantly chip away at Axe's health from a safe distance, making it hard to farm up that critical Blink Dagger. He can even use Thundergod's Wrath to scout and finish a low-health Axe trying to recover.

The game becomes a race. If Axe gets his Blink on a good timer, he can control the map and make Zeus's life miserable. Zeus is forced to play from the absolute back lines, terrified of any unwarded area. If Zeus and his team manage to shut Axe down early and delay that key item, however, they can press their advantage. Zeus can then freely poke from afar, helping his team kite the Axe who can never seem to get in range. It really comes down to which hero is able to execute their game plan first.
