Bane vs Bristleback

How this matchup plays

Picking between these two heroes often comes down to what kind of control your draft needs. Bane offers a way to deal with an otherwise slippery Bristleback. Fiend's Grip locks him in place, letting your team focus him down from the front where he's most vulnerable. A well-timed Nightmare can also prevent him from turning his back to your team or set up for the channel. On the other hand, Bristleback excels at running down fragile, immobile heroes. Once he closes the distance, Bane can't easily escape the constant Quill Sprays and has little defense if his spells are on cooldown or interrupted.

The matchup revolves around team execution. A solo Bane trying to use Fiend's Grip will find himself exposed and quickly killed by Bristleback or his allies. Success for Bane requires his team to be positioned and ready to burst Bristleback during the disable. For Bristleback, the goal is to create chaos and force bad positioning from Bane, or simply wait for him to commit his ultimate before turning the fight. Both heroes can enable a kill on the other, but neither can reliably do it alone, making their direct opposition a matter of which team better supports their hero's game plan.
