Bane vs Earthshaker

How this matchup plays

Controlling the tempo often comes down to which hero gets the jump. Earthshaker's long-range Fissure provides a straightforward way to interrupt Bane's Fiend's Grip from a safe distance, turning a potential pickoff into a wasted ultimate. This single interaction can be enough to save a core or foil a gank. However, the matchup isn't one-sided. Bane can use Nightmare to disable Earthshaker first, preventing the interrupt and leaving him vulnerable. It becomes a duel of positioning and who spots who first; if Bane catches Earthshaker himself, the Fissure is never a threat.

Throughout the game, this dynamic forces both players to be highly aware of each other. A Bane player has to constantly account for Earthshaker's position before committing Fiend's Grip, often waiting for Fissure to be used on something else or trying to initiate from out of vision. Conversely, a good Earthshaker will intentionally hold his Fissure during standoffs, knowing its value is highest as a counter to Bane's ultimate. The fight often hinges on which of these two players makes the first mistake or secures the better position, making the outcome highly dependent on individual execution.
