How this matchup plays

Thinking Hoodwink can escape a gank with Scurry is a common mistake in this matchup. Bane brings tools that are perfect for stopping slippery heroes. Nightmare can catch her out, allowing his team to surround her and destroy her escape trees. Fiend's Grip is even more direct; it’s a long, channeling disable that completely removes Hoodwink's mobility advantage. Once she's caught, she can't break the channel on her own or scurry to safety, making her an easy target for a follow-up stun or a burst of damage.

This dynamic forces Hoodwink to play from much farther back than she'd like. Her goal is to poke from the fog and try to land a Bushwhack to interrupt Fiend's Grip before it gets fully channeled.
