Bane vs Necrophos

How this matchup plays

Picking Bane to deal with a Necrophos is a tough call to make. Bane's whole game plan hinges on Fiend's Grip holding one person still long enough for them to die, but Necrophos is incredibly resilient against that kind of single-target burst. He can frequently survive the full channel thanks to his innate durability and spells like Ghost Shroud. While Bane is stuck channeling, Heartstopper Aura is constantly draining his health, turning his biggest spell into a risky play for himself.

This dynamic forces Bane to change his priorities. Attempting to lock down Necrophos in a mid-game fight is often a fatal mistake, as Necrophos will simply walk away and heal back up while Bane is left exposed. The Necrophos player knows this and can play more freely, using his body to protect his allies. A smart Bane will have to focus entirely on Necrophos's backline, but this allows the core of the enemy team to do whatever he wants.
